What is the photocatalytic effect of EYE MOIST?
Generally, if humidifiers are not cleaned frequently, mold and other bacteria can grow and be sprayed along with the mist. Therefore, we utilized photocatalytic technology. The main ingredient of the photocatalyst is titanium dioxide. This is a type of mineral also used in cosmetics and food products. When visible light LEDs are shone onto a photocatalytic plate coated with titanium dioxide, a chemical reaction occurs. This decomposes organic matter such as viruses, bacteria, and odors attached to the plate, and also removes chlorine from tap water .

We at Kaltech are pioneers in photocatalysis. In 2020, when COVID-19 spread, we were the first in the world to demonstrate the effectiveness of photocatalysis against the novel coronavirus through joint research with RIKEN (the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research) and Nihon University School of Medicine . We then launched a high-performance, highly durable photocatalytic sterilization and deodorization machine, the highest level in the industry.
