The environment surrounding us is becoming increasingly harsh, with invisible bacteria, harmful substances, and air pollutants. Today, people are increasingly concerned about how to protect themselves from skin and throat problems, dehydration, and the risk of infection. While moisturizing and humidifying are key measures to prevent dryness, the quality of the water can actually increase the risk to skin and mucous membranes. To prevent this "moisture gap," Caltech continued its own research and arrived at the idea of continuously humidifying with highly purified water using photocatalytic technology. By increasing the purity of the water that connects life, we can provide pure moisture to the skin and the environment. Yuragi Junsui Premiere is the one and only solution made possible by photocatalytic technology.
Junsui(Junsui)" is a coined word that expresses the highly pure water that nourishes both body and mind, born from photocatalytic technology. It is the culmination of Caltech's many years of research into photocatalysis.
"Première" means "first" or "initial" in French, and was chosen as a fitting name for Caltech's debut in the field of water.

Our research team is conducting research into the inactivation and sterilization of pathogens such as viruses and bacteria using photocatalysts. Their effectiveness has been demonstrated one after another, even with regard to viruses believed to be the cause of pandemics. Meanwhile, while research on bacteria in water has been published in the past, sufficient evidence has not been developed and it remains an unknown field. However, in the summer of 2022, our research team succeeded in elucidating the mechanism by which harmful bacteria in water are decomposed using photocatalysts. We believe that implementing this accumulation of basic research in society will lead to measures to prevent infections caused by unknown viruses and bacteria, contributing to the creation of a sustainable society.
Profile
Completed his doctoral studies at the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido University. After serving as a unit leader at the RIKEN Special Research Unit for Molecular Virology, he is now in his current position.
What is a photocatalyst?
When LED light is irradiated onto a photocatalyst-coated filter, viruses, bacteria, and odor components that come into contact with the surface of the photocatalyst filter are decomposed by a chemical reaction.※ 1The air is then expelled as clean air.
Applying this principle, Caltech has conducted basic research to demonstrate the decomposition of bacteria and other contaminants in water, and has succeeded in producing safe and reliable water using photocatalysts.

- If the power to this product is turned off, the photocatalyst will not function and the growth of bacteria will not be suppressed.

The sophisticated pure white color is a precious, high-quality, water-resistant artificial leather. The high-quality feel matches any interior, and the gentle nuances when used on a table give it a futuristic, modern and stylish design.
The operation panel is easy to use and even cleaning is simple.
The flat panel that houses the operation buttons improves operability and ease of cleaning. The operation buttons have three spray settings, as well as intermittent operation and an off timer setting, making it minimal yet packed with functionality.
◎ When you press the start button in beauty mode, it will operate continuously for 3 minutes and then stop automatically.
●Beauty attachment that allows you to spray directly onto your face
The beauty attachment, which can be attached directly to the device after removing the smart bar, is an original model set at 23 degrees to optimize the amount and distance that can be sprayed onto the face. It is designed with the utmost care to leave your skin feeling fresh and moisturized.
MistWhen applying
- When using the device, make sure that the beauty attachment on the main unit is approximately 30 cm away from your face or décolleté.
- The mist may wet the area around the attachment, your clothes, the table, etc. If this bothers you, cover your clothes with a towel or place a towel on the table to prevent them from getting wet.
- Please install the unit so that the mist is not affected by wind from an air conditioner or other source.
- If you experience any skin problems while using the beauty mode, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
- If you use the Beauty mode for a long time, the surface of the Beauty attachment may become warm, but this does not affect its operation.
- Please fill with water beforehand as water cannot be added once the beauty attachment is installed.
- When carrying the beauty attachment, be careful not to drop it.
- When refilling water in Beauty Mode, remove the Beauty Attachment and be sure to attach the Smart Bar to the main unit and fill the water through the Smart Bar's water inlet. If you fill the main unit with water directly, you will not be able to achieve the photocatalytic water purification effect.

- Tap water that had passed through a special cartridge was left with and without a photocatalyst. With the photocatalyst, the number of bacteria generated after 14 days was reduced by 91% compared to the water quality standard for tap water set by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. The water quality standard for tap water is 100 CFU/mL or less (Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare).
- Always keep the power of the device ON while using it. This will prevent the growth of bacteria. If no operation is performed for 10 days after the power is turned ON, the device will automatically turn OFF.

Why does the power just shut off?If any of the following conditions are met, the device will be deemed not to have been used for a long period of time and will be turned off for safety reasons.
- When 10 days have passed without any operation with the power on.
- If 5 days have passed without refilling water since the orange light started flashing, indicating that the water is out
- If you have added water after the orange light has started flashing, press the operation button and water will fill the main tray.

Why does it need to be turned on all the time?If the power is turned off, the photocatalyst will not function, the water quality in the main tray will not be maintained, and the growth of bacteria will not be suppressed. Please keep the power on at all times except when cleaning or when not using for an extended period of time.

Why does the power sometimes go off or not turn on during use?
- When removing the operation panel from the main unit for cleaning, etc., oil may have adhered to the five gold pins on both sides. In this case, lightly wipe both sides with an alcohol-based wet tissue.
- Water may have entered through the air vent, causing the inside of the unit to get wet. If water gets into the air vent on the unit due to shaking when moving it, it may cause a malfunction. When moving the unit, please move it carefully, taking care to avoid shaking it as much as possible.

Why is there red slime?A red slime (a type of yeast) may appear on the bottom of the Smart Bar, but this is not mold. However, if left unattended, mold may develop. Since the Smart Bar uses tap water, we recommend cleaning it once a week. (See the instruction manual for details.)

Can I supply water directly to the main unit?Be sure to install the Smart Bar and fill the unit with water from the designated water inlet. If you fill the unit directly with water, water may enter the air outlet, causing malfunctions. The cartridge will not remove residual chlorine (such as calcium carbonate) from tap water, preventing you from enjoying clean water mist. Adding anything other than water, such as lotion, will not maintain the water quality recommended by Caltech, and we cannot guarantee its quality. Aromatherapy is also prohibited.
