Joint research on "Inactivation of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses using photocatalysis"
A research project led by Professor Hazama, consisting of three parties: the University of Tokyo, Caltech Co., Ltd., and the University of Miyazaki.
The group found that titanium dioxide photocatalysts can inactivate highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (HPAIV) in liquids.
The results of the study, published in the academic journal Catalysts, showed that the compound can inactivate seasonal influenza viruses in aerosols.
